“Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway” —John Wayne. That’s a quote my dad always told me when I was a kid, and to a certain extent, it’s how I try to live my life.

About Me

My name is William Hughes, and as a recently declared journalism major, I hope to pursue a life of storytelling through the news industry. I have worked in multiple positions at various companies in which I already have had a head start on writing about them, for them, and creating posts on what each respective brand represents. I plan to push my skills and writing expertise to my limits over the course of college, in hopes of one day writing or editing for a major paper.

I have worked at several companies in my years of experience, most notably of which being a company called Redline Restorations; an auto repair and restoration shop which specializes in classic cars. In my two years working there, I moved slowly from being a handy man for any task that was left over, to being on their media team, to being a digital-production designer for the main website they use today. There, I managed many of the sales, sites, and posts that the company needed me to, all while keeping a strict focus on how our company at the time wanted to be seen. I believe there are many nuances to writing which depict how a brand comes off to outside populations, and with the skills I've gained, I hope to leverage what I've learned to acquire new titles and job roles within my life.

I am from Fairfield, Connecticut, though I originally lived in Manhattan on the upper west side. In my free time, I am a guitarist, having played for eight years now. I really enjoy music, and it's were I find most of my free time being spent. If you ever see me in life, feel free to strike up a conversation about any genre you are listening to at the time, and I'd be happy to discuss it. When I say I listen to most genres, I really do mean it. Anything from Bluegrass, to Country, to Blues, Rock, Hair Metal, Metalcore, Deathcore, Hardcore, Punk, Reggae, and even some Jazz fits my bill, and those are just a short few of my large selection of genres I listen to almost every week.
